DESCRIPTION:Matt R. will be speaking on maya history and urban cosmology. \nThis talk will provide an overview of Maya history including the origin\, duration\, geographical extent and social structure of their civilization. I’ll also provide a brief description of some of the major Maya sites such as Caracol\, Calakmul\, and Chichen Itza. Finally\, I’ll discuss the mythological and symbolic content inherent in Maya architecture. Cookies and possibly other snacks will be provided to satisfy the stomach as well as the mind. Please feel free to bring sharable goodies of your own. It promises to be an exciting time!
