CMF Finance Committee Members
On behalf of the Carmelita Gardens community, I would like to extend a warm and hearty welcome to each one of the CMF Committee members. Your decision to step forward and offer your skills and expertise to our community is much appreciated and highly valued.
As members of the Finance Board, you will play a vital role in guiding the financial decisions of Carmelita Gardens CMF, ensuring its long-term success and stability. Your exceptional skills, knowledge, and experience will no doubt contribute greatly to the progress and development of our community.
One of my BSBA degrees is in Finance Management , I was also a Certified Project Management Professional and Program Executive in my former career life at IBM. As a member of the CG family I am keen like all owners to ensure our monies for the CMF are managed appropriately and funds spent as outlined in our agreed budget, with appropriate checks/balances and transparency of records.

I am a 71 year old retired tech executive with over 40 years’ experience managing projects, programs, and businesses in both the National Defense and commercial business sectors. These days, I trade financial markets, and relax as often as possible.
While living in this Community for the past nearly 10 years, I have witnessed most of the changes the Community has undergone and feel that I have a reasonable perspective of where we are going. I’m also reasonably certain that we can find common ground for the common good.

My name is JD Longwell and my wife, MaryAnn, and I own Lot 205 (Casa Carmelita) and Lot 206. We have been property owners in Carmelita Gardens since 2018 and finished our home in early 2020. We both have a long history in Belize, beginning when we were Peace Corps Volunteers in Orange Walk in the mid-1970s.
I hold a master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Colorado State University. I spent most of my career in banking at CoBank (part of the U.S. Farm Credit System). I also worked for a large agribusiness headquartered in Illinois and managed my own trade finance company for ten years. I am currently a professional mediator, handling a variety of cases involving families, contract disputes, small claims cases, construction defects, workplace conflict and, ironically, HOA-POA disputes. I served for five years as treasurer for Little River Ranch HOA and am finishing my second four-year term as a Trustee for the Town of Poncha Springs, Colorado.
Like all of you, I love our Carmelita Gardens community and look forward to watching it grow and thrive in the coming months and years.
